Chopsticks

So today my copy of Chopsticks arrived in the mail. It really was totally different that I expected. See, I ordered it from the synopsis on amazon, not know it was a picture/interactive book. That said, I was intrigued and up for the different read. I literally read the book within an hour, so that was cool. When I finished my take-home message was VERY different from those who wrote reviews on goodreads.

Now, who is to say that either of us is right or wrong, BUT I really feel that reviewers on GR's missed the mark. I think it is a story about mental illness. Everyone seems to want to make romance or a love triangle a large part of every novel lately. Take for instance The Hunger Games. It is a dystopian society where the Districts are oppressed and STARVING, who cares about Team Peeta or Team Gale, they are STARVING and fighting for their LIVES in a game of fight to the DEATH. There are no teams! Okay, that was a random side rant. ;)

Back to Chopsticks, if these reviewers would actually look at the info in the photos and the text within the pages it is obvious that Glory's mental illness had her delusional. She made up the whole boyfriend next door. Look at the admittance log for the mental hospital. ...multiple admittance over the years to include those when F was 'in the picture.' He was just a random name and face on a wine bottle from her mom's collection. Chopsticks was not something to reminder her of him, it was a tape her mom saved for her as a keepsake. Am I the only one who gets this message? Am I that far off the mark? Whether right or wrong, I'm just going to go with it. :)

Book ADD

Suffering from book ADD majorly this past week and now into this week. I am just flip flopping through them trying to find one that snags me. I finally settled on three that I think will hold my interest. Not sure my problem, maybe it is book burn-out? Time to watch some shows on the DVR. Maybe just zone out to some tunes...wait I do that already.

I was hoping to see the movie Chronicle this past weekend but Jon didn't want to go, so I will try to catch it this week or next by myself. I will remember that when the next movie he wants to catch is in theaters. Karma.

Over all we had some interesting extended family news this weekend: baby news, and a questioning cousin. Also an engagement amongst friends. I pretty eventful weekend!

NEW

A new year, a new blog. In an effort to streamline, save money and basically make my social media life a bit easier, I have changed blogs! I am no longer with Typepad and now a blogger. I figure I am already a gmail user and contributor on another blogger account (www.novelgoddess.com) so it was time to make the move. Typepad STILL charges for their basic blogging services so I'm going the free route for 2012. You can find me on twitter, facebook, tumblr, and blogspot.
