Chopsticks

So today my copy of Chopsticks arrived in the mail. It really was totally different that I expected. See, I ordered it from the synopsis on amazon, not know it was a picture/interactive book. That said, I was intrigued and up for the different read. I literally read the book within an hour, so that was cool. When I finished my take-home message was VERY different from those who wrote reviews on goodreads.

Now, who is to say that either of us is right or wrong, BUT I really feel that reviewers on GR's missed the mark. I think it is a story about mental illness. Everyone seems to want to make romance or a love triangle a large part of every novel lately. Take for instance The Hunger Games. It is a dystopian society where the Districts are oppressed and STARVING, who cares about Team Peeta or Team Gale, they are STARVING and fighting for their LIVES in a game of fight to the DEATH. There are no teams! Okay, that was a random side rant. ;)

Back to Chopsticks, if these reviewers would actually look at the info in the photos and the text within the pages it is obvious that Glory's mental illness had her delusional. She made up the whole boyfriend next door. Look at the admittance log for the mental hospital. ...multiple admittance over the years to include those when F was 'in the picture.' He was just a random name and face on a wine bottle from her mom's collection. Chopsticks was not something to reminder her of him, it was a tape her mom saved for her as a keepsake. Am I the only one who gets this message? Am I that far off the mark? Whether right or wrong, I'm just going to go with it. :)
